Laser-Based Processes in Industry and Medicine

Based on the lecture Laser Technology, a deeper understanding of the mechanisms involved in the interaction of laser radiation with matter will be given. Their understanding is needed to capture the unique challenges of using lasers in manufacturing. This includes topics such as beam guidance and shaping. Also, different measuring principles on the micro- and nanoscale will be presented. Furthermore, the physical fundamentals for the understanding of ultra short pulse technologies will part of the lecture. This includes the generation of ultrashort laser pulses and their use in different processes. In addition, other important fields of application of the laser, such as ophthalmology and commercial processing in medical technology, are discussed.
