In September of this year, the 43rd parabolic flight campaign of the German Space Agency  (DLR) took place in Bordeaux. This unique opportunity gave researchers from Germany the chance to carry out more than 600 experiments under microgravity conditions. This year’s campaign focused on advanced manufacturing techniques such as welding and 3D printing as well as studies on muscle control, which provide valuable insights for both space travel and industrial applications.

Our colleague, Vadim Medvedev, took part in this year’s program and experienced weightlessness at first hand. His focus was on researching the laser welding of metals under zero-gravity conditions. The results of these experiments contribute significantly to the validation of simulations, which are of crucial importance in the development of new technologies, particularly in space technology.
